Les conquistadors espagnols ont baptisé « Passionaria » la fleur d’une liane tropicale qui vit dans la jungle amazonienne. Pour le peuple Guarini, cette fleur symbolise la passion fatale de deux jeunes Indiens. La jeune fille meurt de douleur face aux tourments infligés à son amant. Leurs corps enlacés se muent en liane et leur amour renaît en une fleur d’une rare beauté.

Passionaria is the name given by the Conquistadors to the exotic wild flower which grows on the vines of the Amazonian jungle. For the Guarani people this flower symbolises the fatal passion of two young indian lovers. The young girl dies rather than endure the tourments of her love. Their entwined bodies become the vines and on it their love is reborn as a beautiful flower.
