Bien au-delà des frontières, des religions et des idéologies de toutes sortes, les cloches sont un véritable instrument de vie sociale et culturelle. Chacune d’elles renferment une bibliothèque locale ou universelle. Une cloche ne meurt jamais. Les premières cloches étaient chinoises. Elles ont traversé l’Histoire depuis plus de 4000 ans. Leurs secrets de fabrication ont été longtemps gardés par les moines qui détenaient l‘alchimie du bronze. Ils coulaient eux-mêmes leurs cloches dans les monastères. Par la suite, les fondeurs de cloches, appelés autrefois, les Maîtres Saintiers, sont devenus itinérants. Partis de Lorraine, ils sont allés fondre leurs cloches aux pieds des cathédrales et des églises, jusqu’au fin fond de l’Europe.
Chaque cloche est une oeuvre d’art. Pour la créer, le fondeur convoque les quatre éléments, chaque coulée est entourée de rituels et de symboles d’un autre âge. C’est ce que ce film vous invite à découvrir.

Later, bell founders known as « Master Saints » travelled from the province of Lorraine to found their bells on the steps of cathedrals and churches all over Europe. Each bell is a unique work of art. Creating a bell involves four elements and each « birth » of a bell is surrounded by numerous rutuels and symbols from another time. This film will draw you into this world.
